The both of you are totally enthusiastic about your upcoming wedding plans, and to make the plans worthwhile, you now have to consider the people whom you want to attend your wedding celebrations. You already have a design in mind; how about your save-the-date contents?

There is only a limited save-the-date contents that you can include in your already decided save-the-date, and it is also important to keep it simple.

Here’s how:

1. You do not have to be too formal in your save-the-date contents, as long as you are able to inform your guests-to-be of the date, time and place of your wedding, it should be sufficient.

An example would be “Save the Date: [both your names] will be coming together in a holy matrimony on [wedding date] in [the city your wedding will be held].” Your guests will have a certain level of expectation and they will definitely reach you if they have any further queries about your wedding day.

2. If there is enough space for more words, you might consider including a short poem or a quote which is meaningful and relevant to this wedding. At times, this might be included as part of the design of your save-the-date, so it’s really up to you.

Bottom line is – this is the time to get creative, so it is really alright if your save-the-date content is less formal. Make sure that the recipients of this card appear on your final guest list, and do take extra care not to leave anyone out. The moment you send out a save-the-date to someone, you can’t take it back.

3. Do include “formal invitation to follow” so that your guests-to-be are prepared to receive more information from you with regards to your wedding day. Place this sentence at the bottom of your card as it should not be the focus of your save-the-date.
